Manalich was again the star of the zafra, working normally with steam. Early visitors found that lorries had replaced the standard gauge for taking out the sugar, but by late March, 1402 and 1510 were again shunting hoppers as in previous years. On the narrow gauge 1307 was under going an overhaul but all the other locos were working. The loco livery was a return to the blue previously used a few years ago.

Historically this mill was rather inhospitable and although the atmosphere has now warmed considerably, the shed remains 'off limits'. This mill acts as the MINAZ provincial diesel depot for La Habana which means there are always several diesels present, although the hoppers are shunted by the mills standard gauge locos, usually 1402 but one lucky visitor at the end of January saw 1403, the.centenarian Porter at work. All cane lines are thought to be narrow gauge. There is one LP just south of the mill which is serviced regularly during the day. There is a main line which runs south beyond it which then turns west at Melena del Sur with at least 3 further LPs which can be reached from the main road. 1351 was immaculate presumably after overhaul.

Die Zuckermühle in Gregorio Arlee Manalich hat den Betrieb eingestellt. Damit wurde auch die Schmalspurbahn stillgelegt, die Maschinen stehen alle im Depot, einige von ihnen betriebsfähig. Für Touristenzüge (einmal hin- und herfahren) waren die beiden Normalspurloks 1402 und 1510 (braun gestrichen) betriebsfähig. Die 1402 wird darüber hinaus für den spärlichen Rangierbetrieb im Bahnhof eingesetzt. Das Zuckerrohr wird mit Lkws von den Feldern geholt. Eine Wiedereröffnung des Schmalspurnetzes scheint ausgeschlossen zu sein. Die Mühle selbst war noch in kompletten Zustand vorhanden, Abrissarbeiten konnten noch nicht beobachtet werden. (2005)
